{Freshen Your Home With Spring Decor}

Spring Decor

Coral table lamp / Beige area rug / Diane James glass home decor / Urban home decor / Scented jar candle / Spring home decor, $18 / Accent chair

As you know, spring has just arrived. I thought to myself that we all change out our wardrobes for spring, so why not revamp our home? Spring allows you to add refreshing colors to your home, light blues, yellow, coral and any pastel color will brighten up your home. I also love the idea of mixing prints, for example, chevron and moroccan print are lovely together. Fresh flowers are a must for spring. Grab a vase and pick up some tulips on your way home.

I encourage ya'll to be creative and allow your home sweet home to say, "It's Spring!"

{Meet a New Blogger Monday's: Featuring Ashley Vickney}

What is a day like in the life of Ashley?
 I normally wake up, make a cup of coffee and read my favorite blogs! Then I get ready, eat breakfast and head out the door. Most mornings I start out working at the library, or with a meeting! I have an afternoon full of classes and meetings. I make dinner, head to a meeting and come back to work on homework or a post! I end my days with a phone conversation with my guy, and I make my todo list for the next day!

What inspired you to begin a blog?

 As a PR major I wanted to stand out, but Carly from The College Prepster really inspired me to start!

How long have you been blogging? Just over a year now! It’s crazy to see how far my posts have come!

What gives you inspiration for your blog posts and why? I would definitely say other bloggers, what I would want to read from other bloggers and what is happening in my everyday life. I would say the biggest inspiration would be from what I would want to read from other bloggers. I hope that I fill in the gaps for my readers!

Who is your favorite designer? I’m not too big into fashion, but I have to say that I love Marc Jacobs or even Vera Wang. I have a pretty conservative, preppy style but I would like to think I could pull off their clothes!

What special talents do you have? I am able to public speak with little to no nerves. I think that’s a pretty big one. I guess another special talent would be multi-tasking. I can do quite a bit at one time!

What category would you list your blog under? Fashion, etc.? I would definitely say it’s personal! I do a lot of college/university tips out of all them. This fall it will turn into a travel blog as I travel around Europe!

What/who in life is of most importance to you? Family, etc.? My family and friends are definitely at the top of my list. I’m incredibly blessed by the people in my life, I know I can get through anything with them by my side! My education is also really important to me because it’s my key to creating a life that I want.

What is your dream career and why? My dream career would be working at a PR Agency in a medium sized city! I love PR, and a PR agency would keep me interested and busy.

What is the best reward you receive from blogging? I would definitely have to say that the people I’ve met has been the biggest reward! They are encouraging  and supportive. It’s really wonderful!

A special thanks to Ashley for participating in Meet a New Blogger Monday's Series! I really enjoyed your interview. Be sure to visit her blog at: Purple & Pearls

GlamST-A Website Review

About the Brand:
I was really happy that GlamST accepted me into their campaign to raise exposure for their fairly new website: glamst.com. Two women co-founded the website in Uruguay, South America and they hope to gain it's popularity in the United States.

What GlamST does:
This website aims to help women find the best beauty products that are perfect for them. A virtual makeup tool allows for women to select different beauty products and actually see how they look with it on prior to purchasing it. This allows you to be much more confident in buying beauty products online if you can actually see the results. You can also give and receive feedback on the best beauty choices.

A Look I have Created:
Tested Products:
-Foundation:Immaculate liquid powder foundation mattifying oil free in porcelain ($55)
-Concealer: line smoothing concealer in light ($17)
-powder: Bobbie brown brightening finishing powder in porcelain pearl ($50)
-blush: buxom true hue blush in seduction ($24)
-eyeshadow: make up forever glitters in sand ($15)
-mascara: buxom ($19)
-lip gloss: dior addict lip glow in coral ($31)

I love the products I have tested! This look is really pretty and I could definitely wear this everyday. I find it very helpful that I can see how the beauty products look on me prior to purchasing. I encourage any woman who is unsure of buying a makeup product to first test it out on: glamST.com. Also, be sure to find glamST on Facebook: http://facebook.com/glamstapp.

Southern Style & Bristol Races

nascar.jpg

What I Know About Bristol
{The Good, The Bad, The Unexplainable}
I am SO excited to be going to Bristol on Sunday for the race (and already counting down the days till August!)! This is not the first time I’m going to a race and I know for a fact that it won’t be the last! I am slightly addicted to NASCAR and the atmosphere. I know many people have predetermined ideas of what a race looks like and how people behave.
Are they true? POSSIBLY.
I’ve seen EVERYTHING at a race...I mean EVERYTHING!

How I Plan To Dress
{Depending On The Crazy TN Weather}
Right now the weather looks pretty bad for the race...great. Another Daytona? I can’t handle another big break! 54 degrees 70% chance of rain.

My outfits are casual but classy for a NASCAR event. The number one thing in my book? Dress to support! I always try to wear colors that reflect the driver I am cheering for. This is hard for me because I have a few favorites. A part of me always cheers for Trevor Bayne since he is our hometown boy and Samantha Busch is one of my STYLE ICONS so I always am happy to see Kyle get a win! However...I was BORN AND RAISED an Earnhardt girl. And since Dale Jr. has already started the season so well how could I not wear Junior attire?

This outfit is purely based on the weather. It looks like the day won’t be one of the best so I tried to create an outfit based off that. I like the look of the neutral jeans, white silk top, and black Hunter boots with the pop of color from the Michael Kors bag. I LOVE a leather jacket for NASCAR races. It adds a bit of spice!

My NASCAR Style
Every since I was a little girl, I have known what NASCAR is. Having grown up around it made me love and appreciate it even more. I will never forget the day I saw my mom cry non-stop because Dale Earnhardt passed away doing what he loved. All of my family, especially my grandparents, are die hard NASCAR fans. They are such big fans that they even have a room in their house specifically dedicated to it. I love going in this room and seeing all of the pictures they have taken years ago from past races and the many signed pictures from NASCAR drivers. They also own a DuPont trailer. My grandparents took me to my very first race in Bristol. They brought their RV to stay a week before the races began. I believe camping out with other race fans is how you get the FULL experience of what NASCAR is about. You get to meet so many people. Some really nice, classy people, and some drunk in lawn chairs sitting in the middle of a creek. This is all to be expected when putting yourself in a NASCAR environment. It is different types of people coming together for the sole purpose of cheering for their favorite driver, in my case, it is Dale Earnhardt Jr. I am counting down the days until Bristol this summer!

Here are some old pictures of me at my very first Bristol race:

I have only put a little thought into what I might be wearing to Bristol. This is an example of something I would wear.

This outfit combines my favorite items into one adorable NASCAR outfit. If you are going to a race, then you obviously will want a tee to support your favorite driver. For a preppy vibe, I paired Lilly shorts and pearls with it. I went a little out of the ordinary and paired it with cowgirl boots for a little bit of a Southern look. I thought a small cross-body bag would be ideal for fighting the crowds so I added a Kate Spade bag. By the way, I love the color!

A Look Inside My Lilly Pulitzer Jewelry Box

My Lilly P. jewelry box holds my favorite collection of earrings,bracelets,watches and rings. Pearls are my favorite Southern go-to. It is a piece that every Southern girl must own. I literally wear mine with everything.

I also adore bright pieces of jewelry. The Lilly Pulitzer bangle is my most recent purchase. The vibrance of the bright colors are so pretty. I plan on pairing it with different Lilly prints.

I have an obsession with turquoise jewelry. From my turquoise bracelet to my many pairs of turquoise earrings, I love them all.

If I don't have a watch on everyday, I literally feel naked. My favorite watches, that I own, are my tortoise shell Fossil and my rose gold Michael Kors.

My husband bought me Tory Burch tortoise shell heart earrings for Valentine's Day. Let me start by saying he did a PERFECT job at picking these out for me! I adore these earrings. They go with everything and are super classy. I am always getting compliments on them.
